Enkive 1.3 RC2 Released Today

Enkive version 1.3 Release Candidate 2 is now available for you to download from enkive.org/download and at sourceforge. Do take a test drive, and give us feedback! Unless you report any new issues, we expect to declare this the stable release within a week or two.

The two issues we have uncovered and repaired:

  • Internal locking fixes: The locking code was inconsistent in how it handled failure to get the lock, which could have caused invalid access to the database. This was never observed, but the code was fixed to be consistent.
  • Attachment file names with spaces: When downloading attachments that had file names with spaces, the resulting suggested name in your browser would only run up to the first space, causing odd file names and keeping the file from opening with the correct software application. Now, those names are quoted properly, allowing attachments to download with the correct original name.

Please note, this is a release candidate and not a supported release. Deploy it only in test configurations. The RC will be the final product, unless significant bugs emerge. In this stage of product stabilization, all product features have been designed, coded and regression tested through one or more beta cycles with no known showstopper-class bug. This means that no entirely-new source code will be added to this release, but there could still be source code changes to fix defects, changes to documentation and data files, and peripheral code for test cases or utilities. We truly appreciate your feedback. Please submit bug reports here. Please send questions either to the mailing list or to info@enkive.org Thanks for your patience.
